Retinal Screening in Wakefield.

Wakefield currently has a multi centre diabetic retinal screening service.  Within the local area retinal screening has been

commissioned by the Wakefield and Kirklees CCG to provide comprehensive coverage to the area served by the Diabetes Network.

Diabetes CPD Events

Planned to support the requirement of the diabetes element of the NHS Standard Contract (formerly the Diabetes LES), these events are held three times a year and cover a varied diabetes agenda ensuring that health care professionals with an interest in diabetes have the opportunity to develop their skills and understanding of the condition.

What Is D.A.F.N.E?

DAFNE is an educational course for managing type 1 diabetes, giving diabetic patients the necessary skills to administer the right amount of insulin for the amount of carbohydrate you choose to eat.


The aim of the DAFNE course is to improve health outcomes for type 1 diabetics, by providing well-structured information and guidance.


The DAFNE programme is continually developing and improving.
